Every year, thousands of gray whales migrate distances of up to 10,000 km from the cold waters of the Bering Sea in Alaska and the Chukchi Sea to the temperate waters of the west coast of the peninsula of Baja California Sur. There, as they complete their reproductive cycle and nurse their young, they provide one of the most fascinating sights that nature offers. The gray whale is one of the best-known whales due to its habit of migrating, feeding and reproducing near the coast for a large part of its life. It is also the only species of the whales that congregates in large groups within limited areas that can be observed from shore.Observing the gray whale when it blows, breaches, mates or gives birth in its natural habitat is a unique experience. The complete emotion that one experiences being so close to these wonderful mammals is almost inexplicable. Seeing them play in front the boat made us appreciate once more nature's perfection, manifest in the whale's gracious, free and unique movements.
